kal dunsmuir is an illustrator, designer, and nonsense-purveyor from new jersey currently based in nashville, tennessee.

 

inspired by folk art, midcentury advertising, and absurdism, their work is all about celebrating life’s idiosyncrasies and the joy of not taking yourself too seriously. combining hand painted textures and digital tools, they specialize in creating hand-lettering and licensing art that’s always fun, fresh, and off-kilter.

 

kal graduated from the savannah college of art and design in 2024 with a BFA in illustration for surface design, and currently works as a junior graphic designer at the clever factory. 

 

when they’re not drawing, you can find kal out sunbathing, catching a movie at the belcourt, or doing a passionately off-key karaoke rendition of the 1987 madonna classic “papa don’t preach.”
